DTS-i Technology
What is DTS-i technology?
DTSi or Digital Twin Spark Ignition System is a technology developed and patented by Bajaj Auto Limited.
It was first used in Bajaj's Pulsar and Avenger models. When it was introduced to the market, it was introduced as a unique creation that both saves fuel and improves engine performance. In automotive engineering technology, perfect combustion cannot be achieved due to the loss of one spark plug in the combustion chamber and the inability to burn the fuel instantaneously. However, the DTSi engine tries to achieve complete combustion by speeding up the combustion process as much as possible.
The DTSi engine delivers twice the power of a typical two-stroke engine and a significant power-to-power ratio compared to several four-stroke engines.
It can also adjust the idle speed and avoid fuel over-burning during intermittent pick-up and thus control air-fuel mixture enrichment / oil overload at all times. Also at rower revs, the over boost mode is activated when not used for overtaking, and at higher speeds, this over boost will assist full power delivery and will be active as long as the throttle is open.
In engine with DTSi technology... fuel-air mixture entering the combustion chamber with its swirling/swirling occurs by two spark plugs providing two necessary and matching spark plugs, contact with the swirl in the air-fuel mixture causes incomplete combustion. The Digital Twin Spark Ignition system electronically controls this process.
The two spark plugs are mounted at opposite ends of the combustion chamber, ensuring efficient and rapid combustion. The system is fully electronically controlled and has no moving parts, so errors are minimal. The system is mapped by a digital electronic control unit. It has two plugs per cylinder and has combustion chambers with piston heads positioned to create a broad and rapid flame to ignite the air-fuel mixture. This technology enables less ignition advance and leaner mixtures, which can provide a lighter and more powerful engine.
